Hugh Rogers plays in Cricketer Cup 44 years after debut

Hugh Rogers opened the bowling for St Edward’s Martyrs at Monmouth on Sunday 44 years after his Cricketer Cup debut in 1980. He had previously made 40 appearances in the competition between 1980 and 2021 and bowled all his 10 overs for a respectable 48 runs. In fact, two sixty-year olds played as Simon Talbot-Williams was called up to play at the last minute for the Martyrs, although sadly their ever youthfulness was not rewarded with victory. Perhaps the Martyrs should consider an entry in the Over 50s Cricketer Cup or start a new Over 60s competition!
