25 Years on - 1997 Final - Bradfield Waifs beat Old Tonbridgians by 8 wickets

Bradfield Waifs won the Cricketer Cup for the second year in a row under the captaincy of Mark Nicholas with a comprehensive 8 wicket win over Old Tonbridgians. Tonbridge won the toss and batted but lost Alistair Owen-Browne to the first ball Nick Denning had bowled in the competition, as he had only just left school. Their batsmen always struggled against tight Bradfield bowling, only Jamie Ford breaking the shackles with 59, and they succumbed to 178 all out in 54 overs. Will Oscroft was the pick of the bowlers with 3-31 off his 12 overs. That total was never going to be enough to challenge a strong Bradfield batting line-up. Stuart Seymour and Stephen Bridgeman put on 140 for the first wicket, Seymour top-scoring with 93, and with Hampshire players Will Kendall and Rupert Cox both not out, they cruised home by 8 wickets with nearly 25 overs to spare.
