Over 50s Cricketer Cup is launched

2024 sees the launch of an exciting new venture - the Nicholson Cricketer Cup for Over 50s, which has been given enthusiastic backing by the committee. The competition is the brainchild of Eton Rambler, Freddie Tulloch, and will involve five clubs in its first season. Old Wykehamists will play Bradfield Waifs, the winners playing Eton Ramblers, while Oundle Rovers entertain Harrow Wanderers in the bottom half of the draw.

Age group cricket of the older variety has been developing fast within counties, with England Over 70s competing in a recent Ashes series down under. The age profile in the Cricketer Cup has been getting younger and younger since 1967, but maybe the five competing clubs will unearth someone good enough to play in the main Cricketer Cup.

Any other clubs wishing to play in the Over 50s competition in subsequent years should contact Freddie (freddie@ftulloch.com).
