Old Millfieldian Cricket Club Scorer Honoured
In the recent King’s Birthday Honours, Fiona Newnham was awarded the British Empire Medal for ‘services to sport’. It would be nice to think this was solely for services to Old Millfieldians, but in fact Fiona is a former international inshore powerboat racer who became a cricket scorer when she sought a more sedate lifestyle. She scores for Ventnor CC, Hampshire and once for South Africa in a one-day international at Lord’s, as well as OMCC. The Cricketer Cup sends congratulations to Fiona, once the fastest woman on water, and look forward to seeing her at Cricketer Cup matches in 2025.
