David Kemp

David Kemp, who has died aged 92, has been involved with the Cricketer Cup from its inception in 1967. He was brought on to the first organising committee by Ben Brocklehurst and Jim Swanton, served for many years as Honorary Treasurer and was one of our Vice Presidents at the time of his death. He was in the 1st XI at Tonbridge with Colin Cowdrey and taught at the school from 1956-90, retiring as Acting Headmaster. Although his playing days were largely over by the time the Cricketer Cup started, he supported the Old Tonbridgians in all their Cricketer Cup games, home and away, often acting as scorer and invariably hosting and organising the home games. He also served on the Kent CCC committee and was President in 1992-3.
