2019 Cricketer Cup - Quarter Final
The quarter-finals of the Cricketer Cup were completed in good weather on the day England won the World Cup. At the top of the draw, Old Tonbridgians entertained Bradfield Waifs and lost last round’s double centurion, Fabian Cowdrey, in the first over of the game. Marcus O’Riordan with 91 was mainly responsible for taking Tonbridge to 251-8 in two good partnerships with Tom Elliott and Julian O’Riordan, who both made thirties. Bradfield looked likely winners at 101-2, but Harry Came ran himself out soon after scoring a half-century and the innings subsided to 208 all out.
James Kettleborough scored a massive 143 out of Old Bedfordians 226-7 at Charterhouse, but received little support and the Charterhouse Friars chased down the target with over three overs to spare, both Ross Richardson and Oli Pike making fifties. Jimmy Hawkings was the best bowler for Charterhouse with 3-43.
Old Malvernians scored 338 at Repton thanks mainly to Alex Milton with 115. Repton Pilgrims came within 30 runs of achieving the target but were all out for 308, Paul Borrington making 110 and Zen Malik taking 5-57. Malvern now play Oundle Rovers who beat Old Brightonians at Oundle. Brighton made 166, Ramsden taking 4-32 and Graves 3-23, and Oundle won by 5 wickets, Graves completing a good all-round match with 50, and thirties for Greg Smith and Fernandes.
